Griffin Lang, 17, died on the 600 block of Contention Lane in Tredyffrin Township just before midnight Saturday, Oct. 1, Patch reports citing local police.

The Conestoga High School junior, who had recently received his driver's license, was behind the wheel of a car that crashed into a tree, the outlet says. Another teen who was riding in the car was treated and released from a local hospital.

The circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation. Meanwhile, Lang's loved ones have set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for funeral and memorial expenses.

"Our community is devastated by the sudden loss of Griffin Lang, a wonderful, genuine young man who has touched the lives of so many with his kindness and good nature," reads the fundraiser, launched by Jeanne Dechiario.

"If you would like to donate, please know that contributions in any amount are received with gratitude."

The GoFundMe had raised more than $48,000 as of Friday, Oct. 7.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, Oct. 10, and Tuesday, Oct. 11 at Trinity Presbyterian Church on Berwyn Avenue in Berwyn.

The Tuesday service will also be live-streamed at 1:30 p.m. It will be available for viewing by clicking this link.
